Introduction to Git and GitHub

About the course: This introductory course covers the basic concepts and processes for using Git and GitHub effectively. Git is a version control system originally developed for code and software, but now also used for documentation and training materials. Git allows you to manage code and documentation, track changes, and recover previous versions made by you or your team. In this hands-on course, you will develop a mini-project applying all the new knowledge, enabling you to immediately use it in your own projects after the course.

Research Data Management

About the course: In this course, you will learn how to use Research Data Management (RDM) to improve the writing of your publications and increase their impact. This course includes discussion on both the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Starting with basic concepts, along with hands-on activities and discussions, you will learn—over the course of one day—how to standardize, document, and deposit your data in a repository, and how all of this can support your publication! On the following day, you will learn about the LGPD and participate in a roundtable discussion on the similarities and differences between the LGPD and the European GDPR.

Train-the-Trainer Course

About the course: This course introduces researchers and students to the principles of learning, training techniques, lesson design, sessions, courses, and materials, as well as assessment and feedback. It offers guidance, ideas, and tips for designing training/teaching, developing and delivering training activities, all based on educational principles grounded in research. Examples and discussions will also address challenges presented by academic teaching. This course was developed for and by instructors in bioinformatics, but it is suitable for all instructors and educators in higher education. It is part of the ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-Trainer programme.

Training Material: FAIR by Design & Hackathon

About the course: Learn about the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) and how to apply them during the process of planning and developing teaching materials. In this course, we will discuss the different FAIR principles applied to various training elements, such as documents, slides, videos, etc. After the introduction, you will have the opportunity to participate in a Hackathon and bring one of the teaching materials you have developed to undergo FAIRification with the guidance of our experts.
