Biomedical, formed in 2015 by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, with scientific research during graduation in the areas of Environmental Mutagenesis, Cytotoxicity and Bioinformatics at the Environmental Mutagenesis Laboratory - Department of Cell Biology and Genetics - UFRN.
Lead is nowadays one of the most studied heavy metals due its relation with occupational exposure on industry workers or people who manipulate its compounds. Many effects of lead were already been reported on literature, showing a systemic compromising of body, even the most studied ones are related with neurological system. Although there is evidence of how it affects homeostasis at the cellular level, the description of the metabolic pathways affected in lead poisoning is still not fully established. In order to clarify the effects of lead poisoning, the aim of this study is to build a metabolic map of the cellular and biochemical pathways altered by the presence of lead. For this, we use Bioinformatics tools based on textmining in order to obtain information about the lead interactions with biomolecules. The metabolic map will then be validated using experimental data from public repositories.
